Tip the flour in a bowl.
Add the sugar, salt, baking powder...
... and the eggs.
Combine with a whisk, gradually incorporating the flour...
... and adding the water.
The preparation should be smooth, homogeneous and free of lumps.
Add the melted butter when it's lukewarm. Combine well.
Add the flavour of your choice (vanilla, kirsch or rum). Set aside at room temperature between 30 minutes and 1 hour.
Turn the waffle maker on and grease the plates with a brush.
Transfer the batter into a jug with pouring spout. This way, it will be easier to pour the batter directly on the plates. Fill the cavities with the batter.
Make sure you fill each grid completely up to the rim to make regular waffles. Cook for a few seconds...
... then close the top part...
... and flip so the batter is evenly distributed between the four plates.
Cook for about 2 minutes, then lift the top part and check whether the waffles are ready. Cook further if the batter is still pale.
Gently detach the waffles from the plates, using the tip of a knife.
Trim the edges with a knife...
... and cut in the middle to detach each waffle.
Drizzle some icing sugar over the waffles before serving.
Waffles are also delicious with honey, jam, chestnut spread, chocolate spread, Chantilly whipped cream, maple syrup, ice cream or fresh berries...
Enjoy!
