Montesano Extremadura is the result of a family tradition. Founded in 1998 in Jerez de los Caballeros, in the south of the province of Badajoz, in the region known as the birthplace of Iberian ham, this company's initial ambition was to produce Iberian pork products in the most suitable conditions, at the heart of Extremadura's pastures. This unique ecosystem is the preferred place where most Iberian pigs naturally feed.
To achieve this vision, Montesano Extremadura developed suitable facilities to ensure the complete cycle of breeding, fattening, slaughtering, and processing of the pieces, in an emblematic natural setting. Significant efforts, both human and financial, were made to expand the facilities and enable the simultaneous drying of up to 400,000 pieces suspended under optimal conditions, thus preserving harmony with the surrounding environment.
The strategic location of the company, at the heart of the pastures, guarantees optimal animal breeding. Moreover, the environmental conditions, such as temperature, humidity, and altitude, are ideal for the drying and aging of Iberian charcuterie. The know-how inherited from the family tradition, dedication, and experience in each of the production stages also play a vital role.
With its 850 hectares of pastures, 1,500 purebred Iberian sows, and 22,000 piglets per year, Montesano Extremadura is confident in its ability to offer a high-quality product, complying with health standards and reflecting all the characteristic flavor of Iberian products.
The company is founded on deep respect for tradition while integrating the most modern technologies into its production processes. Montesano is one of the most committed companies today to make Extremadura, this magical land where most Iberian pigs are raised, an essential reference in the world of Iberian pork.
