Add this recipe >Before starting our Pear Cake recipe, make sure you have organised all the necessary ingredients.
Place the soft butter and sugar in a pastry bowl.
Blanch the ingredients with a whisk.
Add the whole eggs, one at a time...
... until homogeneous.
Add the whipping cream...
... the rum...
... and the baking powder, combined with the flour and cornflour. Combine well with a whisk.
Drain the pears and cut into them into thin slices.
Grease an oven dish. I used an oil spray for an easy release of the cake. Pour the preparation into the mould.
Arrange the pear slices on top.
Bake at 200°C (gas 6) for about 30 minutes.
When cooked...
... use a knife to check whether the centre of the cake is cooked. The blade should be dry when you take it out. Remove from the oven and leave to cool before serving. Just before serving, you can sprinkle some icing sugar over the cake.

What kind of cornflour is used in this recipe? Is it cornmeal, cornmeal finely ground into flour or cornstarch?
